Bexar Co. Sheriff considers giving Narcan to inmates being released

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff is seriously considering starting a program to give inmates who are being released from jail doses of Narcan as they walk out the door.

If the talks move forward, Fox San Antonio is told Bexar County would likely be the first jail in Texas to give out Narcan when inmates hit the streets.

“I’m a big fan of Narcan and what it does,” Sheriff Javier Salazar says. “I absolutely think this is the way to go. I think it’s going to save lives.”
