Field Deputy saves overdose victim with Narcan day after receiving training

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR News) – Imagine receiving training to use Narcan – the life-saving opioid overdose treatment – and having to use it less than 24 hours later in the field.

For Amherst County Sheriff’s Office Field Deputy Mark Jordan, that was exactly the case Friday.

Even more incredible, Friday is the same day the department announced a separate drug bust that netted 2000 grams of meth and seven arrests.

It’s highlighting a drug problem deputies say is overwhelming the force.
