BELVIDERE (WREX) — People in Belvidere got the chance to learn how to use an important tool in saving lives and fighting the opioid epidemic.
A lunch and learn event let officials share the impact of the opioid crisis in our area. People there were also trained on how to use Narcan, a drug used to reverse the effects of an overdose.
The Boone County Health Department and Sinnissippi Centers joined together to offer the training.
“So prior to us arriving, the individual that could be overdosing could have multiple doses of Narcan prior to us even arriving,” Belvidere Fire Department Lt. Chad Cunningham said. “So it’s basically the same as learning CPR.”
