New opioid abuse prevention campaign aimed at helping American Indian communities

WAUSAU – People battling the state’s opioid addiction epidemic hope a new campaign that highlights the dangers of prescription drug misuse resonates with Wisconsin’s American Indian communities.

State Attorney General Brad Schimel unveiled on Thursday the newest phase of the Dose of Reality Campaignat a news conference at the Marshfield Clinic-Wausau Center. The new materials for the addiction awareness campaign were developed specifically for American Indian audiences by a consortium of partners, including the state departments of Justice and Health Services, Marshfield Clinic, Alliance for Wisconsin Youth, the Northwoods Coalition —  a group dedicated to substance abuse prevention — and members of the state’s Indian communities.
