Opioid addiction starts at the dentist for many teens

Drug overdoses are the leading cause of accidental death in Washington state, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine says opioid addiction is driving that epidemic.

Michael Roberts and Kristin Bretthauer learned their daughter Amber was doing heroin just days before she died. They believe she was introduced to the drug through a friend.

“We try to describe how it is when your child dies and you can’t ’cause there is no word to describe it,” Roberts said.
