Parents, former addict share experiences with opioid abuse

WEBB CITY, Mo. — Stacy Krokroskia’s life dramatically changed on July 25, 2012, after her son, Jordan, 22, died of an overdose from a fentanyl patch.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opiate that’s more powerful than heroin and 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine. The patches release the drug for up 24 to 72 hours and change how the brain and nervous system respond to pain.
