Part 2: Opioid Abuse on the Hi-Line

(Editor’s Note: This article is the second in a two-part series in which reporter Briana Wipf looks at the opioid epidemic in Montana and how communities in the Golden Triangle area are addressing the problem.)

In Cut Bank, Glacier Community Health Center (GCHC) has increased the size of its behavioral health department, which now includes two licensed clinical professional counselors, a patient coordinator, and they are actively seeking an addiction counselor. In nearby Shelby, Marias Healthcare Services has been on a similar trajectory, hiring four behavioral health professionals who work with patients, along with Marias Medical Center, Toole County Sheriff’s Office and the school systems to provide support and training.
