R.I. House speaker introduces 2 bills to reduce opioid addiction
The Rhode Island House of Representatives will consider new legislation this year to limit first-time opiate prescriptions and to protect first responders from lawsuits when they use opioid-reversal treatments such as Narcan.
House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello said in a news release that the two bills, which he introduced last week, would build on progress that the state has recently made in combating the opioid overdose crisis.
