Rural communities see benefit of Narcan

Drug problems and overdoses have a major impact on rural communities that cannot afford Narcan by themselves.

In bigger cities, such as Springfield, the Emergency Services unit typically has money built into its budget as they deal with several calls a month.

“In January this year, we had 24 times where we gave Narcan,” Springfield Fire Chief Allen Reyne said.
