The N.E.W. Addiction: Green Bay police carrying Narcan to combat opioid overdoses

GREEN BAY (WLUK) — The Green Bay Police Department sees the effects of opioid overdoses on a regular basis. And the police chief says naloxone, one of the newest tools in the kit of first responders, is helping the department save lives.

Dr. Kyle McCarty is an emergency room doctor in Green Bay who has treated opioid overdose patients. Opioids are pain medications that include legal drugs like codeine, morphine and fentanyl, as well as heroin, an illegal drug.
